Overview

Watch the sun set over the majestic London waterfront on our River Thames Evening Bike Tour. This tour will cycle you through the heart of the city, allowing you to take in many of the iconic landmarks as well as offer a feel for the mystery and romance of London’s riverside by twilight. This city really comes alive at night, and there is no better way to experience it than from the comfort of a Fat Tire Tour. Your guide will show you world famous sites and hidden away gems, explaining the history and stories that make London so special. The sites visited cover the entire story of our fair city. Along the way you will be fascinated by tales of London through the years, culture and some of our most famous (and infamous) historical figures. While the riverside may come alive at night, the crowds around some of the most popular sites begin to disappear, making this the perfect time for a cycle. You will have the chance to experience some of the famous landmarks of London without the daytime hustle and bustle. This tour is a great way to see London in a different light. It’s also thirsty work! But we have that covered; we will be stopping for a tasting of traditional English beer at one of our favourite local pubs. What better way to break up an evening adventure (included in the price) than with a cool pint? All our River Thames Tours start and finish a short walk from the vibrant Southbank, a hub of nightlife and great eats, so make sure to pick your guide’s brain about the best spots to hit for a late-night meal or post-tour pint. London by day may be magical, but London by night is truly breath-taking.

  • What are your Covid measures? We are proud to announce enhanced cleaning procedures, social distancing throughout the tour, and general good-hygiene practices, such as making hand sanitizer and masks available. We think that bike tours are a great way to safely visit London, and we're happy to do everything we can to make your tour as safe as possible.
  • Where does my tour meet? All of our River Thames Bike Tours meet directly outside Southwark Underground Station (Jubilee Line) where you will see your guide with one of our beach cruiser style bikes and holding a sign.
  • What's the cancellation policy? If you're joining us on a group tour, we're happy to offer free changes and 100% refund up to 24 hours before tour. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 24 hours prior to scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds. Fare difference may apply. If you opt for a private tour, we ask that you cancel or rebooked at least 7 days in advance of the activity start time. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 7 days prior to scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds. Reschedulings are subject to availability.
  • How frequently do these tours run?The River Thames tour is by reservations only. Please check the scheduling info on the tour page. Basically, if you can book it on our website, we're running it. And if not, do consider a private tour - if you have a decent size group (7+) or are willing to pay slightly more for the privilege, we will gladly create a bespoke tour for you at any time of the year.
  • Is this a strenuous ride?If you're comfortable on a bike, you'll be just fine on this tour. There is more riding in the road than on our Royal London Bike Tour, but the route itself is not difficult. We ask that all riders be 12+ years old and feel comfortable riding single file alongside traffic as well as in a group on a dedicated bike path.
  • What if it rains? We live in London, so we're not strangers to the rain! We ask that guests dress appropriately for the weather, but we do have small rain ponchos available should you forget yours. This tour will run rain or shine, but if it's raining quite hard, you can reach out to reschedule, or count on spending a bit more time in the pub getting to know your guide and group.
  • Tell me more about this pub...We've planned a stop about mid-way through the tour at a 400-year old pub. This is a great chance to try a local London beer and get to know your fellow cyclists. Plus, the pint's on us!
  • Which museums are included?Unfortunately, we won't have enough time to enter any of the amazing museums that we see on this tour. We've designed our Evening River Thames tour to give you a great overview of London and point out some of the highlights. Our guides want you to enjoy every second of your time in London, so they'll happily give you instructions and tips on how to best visit the museums that interest you most following the tour.
  • Can we leave our luggage at your office?Absolutely! Our 'office' is more of a garage, but you are welcome to leave larger bags or annoying family members there during the tour. We will either have another staff member present or lock this space while we ride. We have never had an instance of theft or loss, but please note that you will be leaving your things at your own risk.
  • Is this tour family-friendly?While biking in London is a great family activity, we ask that all participants on this tour be 12+ years old. Anyone under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult on the tour. Unfortunately, we do not have adult tricycles, tandems, or bikes with training wheels for adults or children, so we ask that all guests be comfortable riding their own bike. This tour is not strenuous, but everyone should have some bike riding experience and be comfortable riding in a group.
