Take this unique tour of the Paris Catacombs that are home to millions of past Parisians’ skulls and bones. Grab your chance to have skip the line access and save yourself time and energy to fully live this eerie yet fascinating experience.
Paris is a romantic and popular city, but it has its hidden, mysterious and even macabre aspects that are not commonly known or seen by the typical tourist. The Paris Catacombs are part of the darker side of Paris. The inscription (in French) above its entrance sets the tone for your experience – “Halt, this is the realm of death.”
Twenty meters below the surface and covering almost 300 kilometers, the Paris Catacombs are the final resting place of more than six million Parisians dating from the 18th century. These Catacombs are listed among Paris’s 14 museums, and you will see and appreciate, with the help of your guide, how the layers of skulls and bones lining the walls and arches are arranged in the Romantic style and divided by poems and literary passages.
Only 200 people are allowed to enter these Catacombs at a time, so by booking in advance and getting Skip the Line access will ensure your entrance at the date and time of your choice. Explore this unique subterranean world with an expert guide that will reveal the history of the Catacombs and the legends of those at peace here, sheltered from the plagues, revolutions, and war they may have endured.
Your guide will meet you at the entrance to the catacombs, the small green building on Place Denfert-Rochereau. They will be holding a sign to identify themselves. To arrive at the Catacombs by Metro please take Line 4 or Line 6 to the Denfert-Rochereau metro stop and exit using “Sortie 1”; the entrance to the catacombs can be found directly across the street from this exit.
