Generally safe. Be aware of pickpockets around Monastiraki and Omonia Square. Stray dogs are friendly but numerous.

Greeks are very hospitable. 'Opa!' is for celebrations, not everyday use. Tipping 5–10% is appreciated. Avoid pointing with one finger.
