Overview

DESCRIPTION

The city of Amsterdam is one of the most liberal and tolerant cities in Europe, where freedom of worship is a unique characteristic that is widely accepted by its inhabitants. During the 16th and 17th centuries Amsterdam became the Mokum (meaning “safe place” in Yiddish) of the Jewish community. In this 2-hour tour, our expert guide from 360 Amsterdam will relate the past of a city that suffered the horrors of World War II, through the eyes of Anne Frank. The tour shows the old Jewish Quarter to the Anne Frank House, which will make you vividly, feel emotions of those difficult days under German occupation.

1940-1945

Holland was occupied by Germany between 1940 and 1945 and the effects were brutal not only for the Jewish community but for all the inhabitants who lived in Amsterdam. Find out why the Dutch tried to coexist with the German army and how they behaved towards the Jews of Amsterdam, as in the case of Anne Frank.
You will discover numerous events, such as “The strike of February 1941” or “The winter of famine of 1944 – 1945”.
